Jay-Z’s Stash Spot Found?

560 State Street, Brooklyn, NYC

560 State Street, Brooklyn, NYC

“I used to cop in Harlem, all of my Dominicanos/Right there up on Broadway, pull me back to that McDonald’s/Took it to my stash SPOT 560 State Street/Catch me in the kitchen like a Simmons with them pastries.”—Jay-Z “Empire State of Mind”

The heads at NY Mag’s Vulture Blog went to the trouble of interviewing cats at Jay-Z’s old stomping grounds (no Marcy Projects) in BK. Since it was shouted out in his ditty with Alicia Keys, it was bound to happen. Listen closely, Hov says “spot,” not “box.” Doesn’t seem like them, or Curbed, have grasped the concept of a stash spot, though.

Below, the making of The Blueprint 3’s artwork. Almost Gold in a week? Guess Hov really is running the map.

Swine Flu Rap

“J-A-Y, I flow sick,” said, Jay-Z on “Money, Cash Hoes.” You know, that song that also features Crackman Darkman X who is now calling Jay Kanye “heartless” (see below).

Hov probably didn’t have Jerome Clark’s awkward (let me be nice) attempt at flowing about swine flu prevention in mind when he said the aforementioned line (or when he said he was “the only MC with the flu” on “Brooklyn’s Finest”). Someone get Clark, the medical director of the Long Island Railroad, a deal with Purell. [Spotted at NY Mag]
