DOOM – Unexpected Guests Trailer (Video)

Usually can’t stand “trailers” or “previews” but the Super Villain gets a pass.

Unexpected Guests is due November 10th via Gold Dust and features album cuts and rarities, sequenced by DOOM himself.

But really, DOOM diehards will have these selections in their collections, or at least heard them. Still, it’s a good way for those late to the Metal Face fold to play catch up, and have Mr. Dumile collect another check.

That’s Gay: No Homo: Shout To Lil Wayne

Personally I prefer the use of “Pause.” Even a terse, “A-yo!” should suffice. No need to offend the LGBT community, after all.

The fact that in the above clip Current TV’s That’s Gay channel really goes in—pause—on Lil Wayne’s gay aesthetics (their implication, not the kid’s) is quite entertaining.

Really, the use of either term, or variances like “No Perez Hilton,” “No Queer Eye,” “No this,” etc. are juvenile. But you and me both will probably continue to use them. Unless you’re really gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. [Spotted by Wavy Maguire]

Kanye West’s Pastelle is a Wrap

2009_10_kanyediscontinued

Damn, Kanye West’s Pastelle had just dropped a “look book,” of sorts, yesterday. It was was over before it started. Seems like the only rap cats left with a feasible—and purposefully misspelled—clothing line are Clipse with Play Cloths.

Nope, I’m not counting Roc-a-Wear or anything hawked by any other rappers with questionable at best taste in clothing.

Video: Q-Tip “Life Is Better” + All The Others

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Props to the Abstract for dropping plenty of videos, that are actually worth watching, for songs from The Renaissance. The latest—”Life Is Better” featuring Norah Jones is above—all the rest are below the break.

Still mad that I conducted this extensive interview with Q-Tip and while it was supposedly being videotaped—by a cameraman, not the kid—the tape turned up blank. Yeah, same thing I thought.

Oh yeah, Kamaal the Abstract finally made it out.

Black Dynamite Official Movie Trailer + Music

Equal parts Black Belt Jones, Shaft, Superfly and Black Caesar, Black Dynamite looks like it’s going to be kinda entertaining. The flick stars Michael Jai White (last seen catching an L thanks to The Joker in The Dark Knight) as well as funny men like Arsenio Hall and Tommy Lee Davidson. Black Dynamite hits theaters October 16.

If just about any and every horror flick can get remixed and reimagined, why not Blaxploitation flicks? As for my fav movie of the genre—note that I said favorite, not necessarily best—Willie Dynamite. Just watch the clip at the end of this post to see why and yes, that is Gordon from Sesame Street.

A soundtrack and score via the heads at Wax Poetics should be keepers too.

“Shot Me in The Heart” (streaming below) is from the Adrian Younge composed score, while…

…9th Wonder flips the groove f0r Buckshot & Sean Price’s “The Feeling,” from the soundtrack.
