See, that group, other than Sporty Thievz, I wrote about a while back wasn’t just an urban legend. [Checked at Rap Radar]
Consequence and his Grammy Family (Kanye “I’ma Let You Finish” West & John “My Last Name is Really Stephens” Legend) drops the video for “Whatever You Want.” Directed by Hype Williams and it’s from Cons’ upcoming album, Cons TV. Short and sweet. [Thanks to The Sowmya Life]
Black Dante recites Zev Love X’s verse from “Meat Grinder,” with assistance from the Supervillain. Further vidence that a DOOM and Mighty Mos Def album is so profoundly necessary. [Spotted via Stone Throw’s twitter, via Frolab.com]
The Mask of Doom [The New Yorker]
Below, scene from Do The Right Thing when Buggin’ Out is threatening to smack up (2X!) the gentrifier who disrespected his Air Jordan IV’s. Great, great scene.
So this kid J. Cole—you know, the one rolling with Jay-Z—is nice with the bars and the beats. Says he’s produced 99.9% of his own music. Considering both his mixtapes [The Come Up and The Warm Up] are official like a ref with a whistle, I figured I’d ask the Fayetteville, NC native a couple of quick production related questions…
In short, his favorite producer is Kanye “I’ma Let You Finish” West, he started making beats on an ASR-X Pro, he’s working with No ID and…just watch the clip. Safe bet he’ll be in XXL Mag’s next Freshmen class.

“I used to cop in Harlem, all of my Dominicanos/Right there up on Broadway, pull me back to that McDonald’s/Took it to my stash SPOT 560 State Street/Catch me in the kitchen like a Simmons with them pastries.”—Jay-Z “Empire State of Mind”
The heads at NY Mag’s Vulture Blog went to the trouble of interviewing cats at Jay-Z’s old stomping grounds (no Marcy Projects) in BK. Since it was shouted out in his ditty with Alicia Keys, it was bound to happen. Listen closely, Hov says “spot,” not “box.” Doesn’t seem like them, or Curbed, have grasped the concept of a stash spot, though.
Below, the making of The Blueprint 3’s artwork. Almost Gold in a week? Guess Hov really is running the map.
I wasn’t ready to sip the Kool-Aid just yet but this new vid for “Glass” (above), from his pending 4075: The Refill mixtape, shows Pill to be more than just another trap rapper. Being part of the homie Killer Mike’s Grind Time Rap Gang isn’t a bad look either. [Props to Jasi B.]
A new video from the Church League Champs. Dig it.

I just had to use that line. And to think, I had just been touting the merits of Yeezy not too long ago. The apology has already been made, via his blog. At this time an RIP to Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Hip-Hop’s best award show bumrusher by far, is also in order. [Spotted at MTV]
